Upcoming WUGA Events
2016 Artists in Residence Events
The series kicked off February 27th at the gorgeous home of textile designer and color specialist Susan Hable Smith. The second event was March 26 at the home of Rinne Allen. Both events were sold out! Another memorable event was at the home of David Hale on Saturday, April 16. Thanks to everyone who attended the terrific event on May 21 at the home of Beverly Babb and Deonna Mann and who joined us at the home of Yvonne Studevan on August 20.
All the artists featured this third year are remarkable, accomplished . . . and diverse!
Here is the upcoming event:
Jeffrey Whittle is a painter of vibrant works that have won many awards. He received his MFA in Painting from Cornell University and a BFA from UGA. He’s held several real Artists in Residence appointments — for example, in 2004 at the Fundacion Valparaiso in Spain. In 2012 he was among the artists featured in Oxford American's 100 UNDER 100: The New Superstars of Southern Art. He teaches studio courses in painting, color and composition, and drawing and the Lamar Dodd School of Art at UGA.
We’re happy to report that Marti’s is continuing their partnership with us! We’ll have delicious hors d’oeuvres at each home.
Friends of WUGA pay $10 to attend each event; others pay $15. (Friends memberships are $30 or more annually.)
Each event is from 3 to 5 on a Saturday.
You must RSVP with Abbie Thaxton (firstname.lastname@example.org or 706/542-9842) to reserve a spot, as space is limited. Addresses are provided when you register.
Join us as we celebrate and meet our town’s great artists!
