Athens Transit Buses to go up for Auction
ATHENS- Five Athens Transit buses are planning to be put up for auction.
The Athens-Clarke County Commission declared the five buses as surplus on Tuesday and announced their intention to put the buses up for auction.
Last June, officials auctioned four buses at an average of $6,000 each, according to government documents. Officials expect to make about $29,000 for the upcoming auction of the five buses. Four of the buses are 1999 models and are 35 feet long according to the documents. The other is a 2004 15-passenger van.
The buses will be sold through GovDeals.com. Document state that surplus auctions usually take place in October.
