Food Stamps Could Require Drug Test
ATHENS - A bill in the state house would limit access to food stamps through drug testing
House Bill 772, introduced by Vidalia republican Greg Morris, would require those receiving food stamps to pass a drug test according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. In 2012 Gov. Nathan Deal signed into law, HB 861, which had similar requirements for anyone requesting temporary assistance for needy families.
That law was never implemented, though, after a federal court struck down a similar version in Florida.
