UGA Fights Obesity

26 February 2014

The University of Georgia is launching its spring session of Walk Georgia. Walk Georgia and The Coca-Cola Foundation are working together in an effort to increase physical activity in the state.

Georgia has one of the highest obesity rates in the nation. The UGA Extension service, encourages physical activity among residents of all ages at the most local level.
Through a $1 million, three-year grant, The Coca-Cola Foundation is partnering with Walk Georgia to further this fight against the obesity epidemic.
The goal is to get 100,000 participants over the next three years.

Walk Georgia hopes to decrease the number of physically inactive people in each Georgia county by 5 percent. You can still join the 12-week session by going to http://www.walkgeorgia.org
