3rd Annual Improv Comedy Show at State Botanical Garden

Athens area residents are invited to attend the 3rd annual Improv Comedy Show at the State Botanical Garden tomorrow. Professor Misha Cahnmann Taylor says the free Improv for Families event is a way to get the entire community involved.

"The idea is to engage youth and families and students and people of all ages in the magic that is improv theater. “

Chase McGee is a student in Cahnmann Taylor’s For the Love of Language class. He says he’s looking forward to participating.

“We’re doing this for a live audience and we’re doing this to meet families and meet the community. Six or seven weeks ago, I’m not sure I would have been comfortable with that,” according to McGee.

He agrees with Cahnmann’s statement that you have to be responsive to the actors around you.

“She’s right, there is absolutely some sort of aspect of just going with the flow. You can’t plan whatsoever for this kind of thing. You just sort of have to toll with it and I hope we can teach people to roll with the punches.”

The family-friendly event is free and open to everyone. Attendees can take part of remain on the sidelines.

“Anyone who wants to lighten up their funny bone should come,” Cahnmann Taylor said.

McGee agrees.

“Come on out and see it, it’s going to be a fun time.”

The show begins at 3:45 and ends at 4:45, there will be an invitation for small groups to take part in improv games afterward.
