Georgia Museum of Art Hosts Photographer Jerry Siegel

Museum Trustee Association

The Georgia Museum of Art is holding an offsite event this evening. Avid Book Shop in Five Points is hosting Jerry Siegel. The Museum published a book by the Alabama-born photographer, “Black Belt Cover: Photographs by Jerry Siegel includes 65 full-color, 65-full-page images of the Black Belt region of the Deep South. Hillary Brown Director of Communications, says the museum published the tome.

“It’s the south as shown by an insider, not an outsider, and those are two very different things,” according to Brown. “It really just captures the whole range of everything down here, it’s about a very specific place, but you can extrapolate things about it to the whole region. It just tells all kinds of stories and every image and they’re not always pretty, but sometimes they are. It’s a whole range, it’s a complicated place to live.”

Siegel is meeting fans and signing books at Avid Bookshop in Five Points from 6:30 to 7:30 this evening.
