Man Arrested in Connection with Two Shooting Incidents in Athens

An Athens man is in custody after the Athens-Clarke Police Departmetn responded to a pair of related shootings on Tuesday. Officers first responded to Oak Hill Drive at about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls about shots fired in the area.

They reviewed video footage from an apartment complex and identified a white Jeep Cherokee which was involved in the incident. Officers also found several shell casings at the scene.

At about 6:30 Tuesday, they arrived at Pamela Drive regarding multiple shots fired three. Witnesses described a white Jeep Cherokee as being involved, Officers found a vehicle that was struck, shell casings and the jeep.

“That vehicle was occupied by a person who was later identified as Johntavious King,” according to Rodriguez. “Mr. King has since been charged with two counts of reckless conduct and criminal trespass, damage to property.”

He says there is an ongoing investigation into this incident.

“We continue to look into this incident, as of this moment we do not any victims who came forward to tell us that they were the victims of this crime, or they were the intended targets of this crime.”

Rodriguez says they believe more than one shooter was likely.
