Commissioner Mariah Parker Tests Positive for Coronavirus, Suggests Tests for Some Protestors

County Commissioner Mariah Parker has announced she tested positive for coronavirus. Parker says she is asymptomatic, but infectious. She cautions anyone who spoke to her Sunday, or was near her in the crowd during the protest, to get tested.

According to a post on her Facebook page, she has been ordered to self-isolate for two weeks and medical personnel were unable to determine when she contracted the virus. You can call your healthcare provider or the Northeast Health District COVID-19 testing hotline at 706-340-0966 or the Clarke County Health department at 706-389-6921.

Parker will be a guest on Athens News Matters this week. That conversation will take place via Zoom.
