September is Library Card Sign Up Month and [as the month winds down the Athens Regional Library is continuing to encourage area residents to get carded. The facility is joining with the American Library Association and libraries nationwide participating in the Get Library Carded campaign. Organizers say a library card supports academic achievement and lifelong learning. Rhiannon Eades is public information officer for the library. Eades says several area businesses are participating during the month by providing discounts and promotions to library card holders.
In addition, prizes will be awarded at the end of the month for those who get new cards, renew their old cards, or visit a participating location to fill out an entry form.
