The Firefly Trail Incorporated has launched a year-end campaign to raise matching funds for the trail. Organizers say the funds will be used to help partner communities build and maintain the trail.
The Firefly, which will stretch 39 miles from Athens to Union Point once completed, currently has segments of the trail on the ground and in-use in Athens, Winterville, Maxeys, and Union Point. In addition, work is being down in Clarke and Green counties to create seven-mile long so-called “end pieces” at both ends of the trail. Mark Ralston is president of the organization. He says the trail will bring benefits with it.
The goal for the campaign is $40,000. For more information, visit FireflyTrail.com.
