The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders returns to UGA

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders will return to the University of Georgia this summer.

The program will host 25 emerging leaders in civic engagement from Africa for a six-week leadership institute funded by the U.S. Department of State. The fellows will be part of a group of 700 to be hosted at 28 educational institutions across the United States.

The institute includes academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, and local community engagement. After the program, they will take place in a summit where they participate in networking and panel discussions. Following that, up to 100 fellows will be able to participate in four weeks of professional development with U.S. organizations, companies, and agencies.

The program is in collaboration with the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, the UGA Office of Global Engagement, and the African Studies institute at Franklin College of Arts and Sciences
