Thousands of Northeast Georgia residents will soon see their medical debt wiped out. St. Mary’s Hospital System and the national nonprofit RIP Medical Debt have partnered to eliminate more than $14 million in medical debt for 12,000 Northeast Georgians. Mark Ralston is Public Relations Manager for St. Mary’s. He says former patients who will benefit from the debt cancellation will be notified by mail.
St. Mary’s reached out to RIP seeking assistance for former patients who were eligible to receive the assistance. The largest number of those being helped are in Clarke and surrounding counties, but the funds are being dispersed throughout Northeast Georgia.
