Georgia saw a slight uptick in the unemployment rate last month. According to Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson, September’s unemployment rate increased to 3.4 percent, up one-tenth from a revised 3.3 percent in August. Jobs were up by 17,100 over the month and up by 96,100 over the year to reach an all-time high of more than 4,900,000 (4,942,700.)
The areas with the most over-the-year growth included Accommodation and Food Services, Health Care and Social Assistance, and Local Government.
Thompson said in September, there 96,000 job listings online for residents to access at the department’s WorkSource Georgia portal.
