Athens-Clarke County continues with East Side Library Project

waengineering.com

In 2020, Athens-Clarke County voters overwhelmingly approved SPLOST 2020 – a list of more than three dozen projects funded by an extra one-cent sales tax.

One of those projects is something long desired by many on the county’s East Side – a new library to serve their neighborhoods. Planning has been underway, and the project is now at an important stage – site selection.

WUGA’s Martin Matheny spoke to Carol Myers, who represents part of the east side to get an update.

Martin Matheny is WUGA's Program Director and a host and producer of our local news program 'Athens News Matters.' He started at WUGA in 2012 as a part-time classical music host and still hosts WUGA's longest-running local program 'Night Music' which is heard on WUGA and GPB Classical. He lives in Normaltown with his wife, Shaye and dog, Murphy.
