In 2020, Athens-Clarke County voters overwhelmingly approved SPLOST 2020 – a list of more than three dozen projects funded by an extra one-cent sales tax.
One of those projects is something long desired by many on the county’s East Side – a new library to serve their neighborhoods. Planning has been underway, and the project is now at an important stage – site selection.
