This holiday season may be a little brighter for state workers as Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced he’ll provide a one-time retention pay supplement of $1,000 for each of the 112,000 state employees by the end of the year.

The supplement will also be distributed to the nearly 200,000 educators and school support staff across the state.

The governor’s Amended FY 2024 budget submitted to the General Assembly in January will include around $330 million for the one-time pay supplements. The budget will also include more than $100 million to provide ongoing funding for local K-12 schools for school security and safety.
