ACCPD conducts local vehicle checkpoints for driver safety, giving out 36 warnings and citations

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department Traffic Unit conducted two vehicle checkpoints on Tuesday to assess driver safety in Athens. ACCPD checked nearly 1800 vehicles on Mitchell Bridge Road between 8:45 am and 11:30 am and at Danielsville Road between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.

Of the vehicles checked, the traffic unit gave warnings and citations to 36 drivers. This included 21 window tint citations and 9 expired/no valid license citations. Those that drove through the checkpoints were also issued pamphlets on pedestrian laws and why ACCPD conducts vehicle checkpoints.
