Community members are invited to submit their home movies for free digitization by the University of Georgia's Brown Media Archives and Peabody Awards.

Online registration is now open for the second edition of “Free the Tapes,” audiovisual techs will digitize up to three old videos in any format, from Super 8 and Betamax to VHS and more. Participants can drop off their materials on one of three dropoff days: Tuesday, August 20 from 11 am until 1 pm at the ACC Library, Wednesday, August 21, from 11am until 1pm at the Winterville Cultural Center, and Thursday, August 22 from 5 to 7 pm at the UGA Special Collections Libraries Building.

The theme is “Athens Potluck,” based on the exhibit of the same name on display at the Special Collections, featuring looks into the homes, lives, and families of Athens musicians. Items can be picked up during a special event on Nov. 9, which will include activities and a special screening.
