The Iron Horse returns home

Andrew Davis Tucker

The Iron Horse was reinstalled at UGA’s Plant Sciences Farm on Friday, following renovations over the past summer and fall.

The 12-foot and 2-ton boiler plate steel sculpture is back free of corrosion, with reinforced joints and a fresh coat of paint. A new plaque with the sculpture’s history will also join the Iron Horse.

The Iron Horse was created in 1954 by artist-in-residence at UGA Abbot Pattison. The sculpture was initially located on campus but was moved to its current location a few years after being created.
