Athens-Clarke County has announced that its acting manager will resign. Mayor Kelly Girtz will recommend an Acting Manager candidate at the next mayor and commission meeting on January 7th.
The national search for a new Athens-Clarke County acting manager has already begun, and Mayor Kelly Girtz is set to recommend a candidate at the next Mayor and Commission regular session Meeting on the first Tuesday of the New Year.
Acting Manager Niki Jones resigned Tuesday after being appointed Assistant City Manager in Raleigh, NC. Jones will begin his new position on Jan 21.
A new manager for Athens-Clarke County is expected to be appointed early in the new year.
