African Perspectives for August 29, 2021
This final episode in August opens with good news of the FDA granting approval to the Pfizer vaccine and the various incentive programs across our area and the country to hopefully increase the number of vaccinated people.
The episode acknowledges and appreciates everyone, including members of the UGA and Athens communities that participated in the successful annual Africa Family picnic organized by the African Studies Institute with support from the African Graduate Students Forum on Saturday, August 28 at Pavilion #2 and #3, Memorial Park, Athens, GA.
The episode contains a special feature on Nigeria’s rising music star, Chidinma Ekile popularly known as Chidinma and the announcement of the death of Brian Travers, a founding member of the group UB40. The episode shares five shocking facts from Oxfam international about extreme global inequality. As always, the episode featured enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including the music of Chidinma selections from the 1994 collection, Reggae Africa.
