African Perspectives for September 12, 2021

This episode provides timely and important information about recent developments in two particular situations on the African continent.

These news updates include the open letter written by fifty-five of Africa’s most well-known intellectuals to all the parties in the war about a non-military solution. The letter outlines five specific peace making and peace keeping steps that both the Ethiopian government and the regional government of Tigray must both take to ensure the end of the hostilities before Ethiopia completely implodes due to the increasing violence.

The episode also features news from Guinea about an apparent military coup that has deposed President Alpha Conde by elements of the Special Forces Group (GPS) led by Colonel Mamady Doubouya.

As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans from the World Music Network collections, ‘Best of Africa’ and Urban Grooves.
