The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission meets tonight at 6pm.

This evening’s meeting is actually three meetings in one – the second of three state-mandated public input sessions on the county’s budget will start things off. The first public input meeting, held last week, elicited only two comments from Athenians.

After members of the public have an opportunity to speak on the budget, Commissioners will move into a special called session to vote on several items, including a concept for an eviction prevention program that caused some controversy at last week’s meeting. Commissioners are also expected to vote on an agreement with the Clarke County School District that lays the groundwork for a Tax Allocation District in the Georgia Square Mall area.

Finally, Commissioners will have their regular agenda-setting session where they decide what items will be up for a vote at their June 1 meeting.
