ACCPD Arrests Athens Man for Shooting on Highway 29

Athens-Clarke County Police Department

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department arrested Calvin Louis Brown, 29, of Athens earlier this morning for a shooting that occurred at 5 p.m. on Feb. 20 on the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 29 North.

Yesterday, police responded to a phone call from a residence. When police arrived, officers found two victims, a 60-year-old woman from Athens and a 64-year-old man from Winterville. The female victim was shot multiple times while the male victim was shot once. The female victim was released from the hospital for non-life-threatening wounds but the male victim is being treated for a serious injury and has not been released.

ACCPD arrested the suspect at his residence in the 100 block of Rolling Ridge Drive for aggravated assault and aggravated battery. As the investigation continues, Brown may face further charges.
