ACCPD Collecting Outdated Prescription Medications

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is accepting outdated prescription medications — pills and tablets only.

You can take them to one of ACCPD’s prescription drug drop-off boxes located at the Lexington Road or Mall precincts.

The department receives large amounts of medications that are no longer needed or that are out of date. Police are accepting prescription tablets/pills in their original containers, plastic bags, or blister and daily packs, but no loose pills.

No liquids, needles/syringes, no inhalers, loose pills, or electronics will be accepted.

The medications will be processed, then the evidence bag will be sealed, and taken to an incinerator for disposal.

Medical facilities are asked to used their approved drug disposal service.
