The Athens-Clarke Police Department is investigating a death at a local hotel.
According to a new release from the department’s Public Information Officer, Epifanio Rodriguez, officers were called to the scene at the Best Western Hotel on Milledge Avenue around 2:00 on Sunday afternoon.
They were informed by housekeeping that they believed one of their guests was deceased in a room. Police say the cause of death is not known at this time and an autopsy will be conducted.
Detectives say the victim checked into the room with a male, but no one else was on the scene when officers arrived. This is an ongoing investigation.
