ACHF Preservations Awards

Morton Theatre

The latest in a series of event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation gets underway Monday  evening.

The historic Morton Theatre in downtown Athens is the setting for the 48th Annual Preservation Awards. The event recognizes local preservation efforts from the previous year. Committee Chair Jennifer Lewis says the event celebrates those doing real work when it comes to saving, rehabilitating and renewing historic buildings.

"This is the best make-over show you will ever see," Lewis said. "It is wonderful."

She believes it's for anyone curious about preservation efforts in the Classic City.

The event is free and open to the public. It starts at 6:30 pm.

"If you have ever been around Athens and drive past something under construction and said 'Oh, I wonder what's going on, I wonder what they're doing?'  This is your chance to find out. it's a wonderful before and after slide show."

The event is free and open to the public.
