African Perspectives for August 8, 2021

This second episode in August focuses on the worrisome rising numbers of coronavirus infections in our listening area and the state of Georgia.

This worrying resurgence of the virus appear to be due to the wide spreading of the deadlier delta variant of the Coronavirus and the unfortunate vaccine hesitancy that has led to a lot of people not getting the available vaccines.

The episode shares some of the disturbing statistics and in the spirit of public safety, the episode encourages all of listeners who are yet to be vaccinated to seriously consider getting vaccinated soonest.

This episode also provides a few African news updates from Kenya where a Shona community has just been granted citizenship and Tunisia with its ongoing political and social unrests. The episode rounds up celebrating all those born on the eighth day of the eighth month of the year, including Adetokunbo Oluwamayowa Ojo, one of the shows supporters who was celebrating a monumental occasion of turning into a legal adult.

As always, the episode features selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected selections from Nigeria’ King Sunny Ade and the exciting brother duo of P-Square.
