African Perspectives for January 17, 2021

This episode is our show’s annual commemorative special on the great American civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Featuring excerpts from three speeches by Dr. King, the episode remembers the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts for peace and justice in America and universally. The episode also highlights the day of service in Athens Clarke County.

In addition, the episode provides updates on electoral issues in Somalia, Uganda and Burkina Faso, where the president has been sworn in for a second term.

As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from Nigeria’s Asa and Jamaica’s Judy Mowatt.
