African Perspectives for March 28,2021

The final episode in March concludes our month-long celebration of the contributions of women in this society and across the World during the Women’s History Month (WHM).

Presented, once again, as a special dedication to all the female listeners of the show, the episode focuses on women in contemporary African politics. The episode provides data on female representation in elected legislative houses on the continent and around the World.

Based on the data from the 2019 edition of the biennial Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Map of Women in Politics, the episode identifies the top six African nations for female representation in parliament as Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia, Senegal, Mozambique, and Ethiopia.

The episode is a fitting ending to WHM on African Perspectives on WUGA. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected tunes from Nigeria’s Asa and South Africa’s Judith Sephuma and Lungiswa.
