African Perspectives for November 22,2020

This penultimate episode in November continues the extended commemoration of twenty-four years of our show on WUGA with fortnight African music CD giveaways. We will celebrate over the next two months or so and give away four African music CDs during the celebration. The show features news updates from Ghana, including the sudden death of Ghana’s long serving head of state, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings at the age of 73, and Ethiopia, especially the escalating military crisis in the Tigrayan region of the country. In addition, we received our first guest since the first quarter of the year on this episode of the show. Our guest is UGA Assistant Professor of Global Media Industries at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Wunpini Fatimata Mohammed. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selections from the 2017 Shanachie collection, Afrobeats Hot Hits.
