African Perspectives for October 25,2020

This final episode of the show in October features news updates from across the African continent. Featuring news updates from the ongoing protests against police brutality in Nigeria to the controversies and uneasiness preceding the October 31st presidential elections in Cote D’Ivoire. The show also provides update on the World Trade Organization’s search for its next Director-general, with Nigeria’s Ngonzi Okonjo-Iweala amongst the two female finalists. The concluding focus was on the forthcoming 2020 African Studies Virtual Fall lecture scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 3:30pm on zoom. Dr. Alexander Fyfe, a teaching fellow at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, will deliver the lecture. As always, the episode featured selected enjoyable music from Africa and/or by Africans including selected music from two collections, Putumayo Presents African Beat and Oxfam’s Africa – Enchanced CD collections.
