Another Spike Reported in the Number of Georgia's COVID-19 Deaths

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported another spike in the death rate today due to Covid-19. There have been 81 deaths today along with more than 2,500 new cases. There have also been 302 new hospitalizations.

 

As of the 29th, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that more than half of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 85% of critical care beds are occupied, and 78% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. There remains a 58% availability for ventilators. 

According to the state health department, Clarke County is reporting 1,794 confirmed cases and 17 deaths. Barrow County has 1,152 cases and 32 deaths. Jackson County has 972 cases, 13 deaths. Madison County has 356 cases with four deaths, Oconee County is reporting 401 cases and 15 deaths, while Oglethorpe has 190 cases and seven deaths.
