Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement Hosts 'Know Your Civil Rights' Workshop

The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is holding an educational workshop Wednesday, November 29.

The topic of the most recent workshop by the organization focuses on the process of filing a discrimination complaint in Athens. Athens Anti-Discrimination co-founder and President Mokah Jasmine Johnson says the Know Your Civil Rights meeting will teach those attending what to do if they believe they have been discriminated against on the job, or by a local bar or business owner.

“That workshop, I’m hoping, will teach people how to defend their civil rights when it is dealing with public accommodation or it’s dealing with on-the-job situations, there is a process where you can file a claim, a discrimination complaint,” according to Johnson.

The meeting is from 5:30 to 7:30 Wednesday night at the Athens-Clarke County Library.

The workshop is also a follow-up the organization’s protest at the Arch on November 17th which tackled allegations of discrimination by downtown bars.
