The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens is hosting its annual benefit luncheon this afternoon.
Organizers, supporters, and members of the community are gathering at the Athens Country Club La Table 2018. Executive Director Davin Welter says the luncheon is the largest fundraiser for the Athens organization, which provides housing, training and other necessities for homeless families in the area.
“So this is an opportunity for a lot of them to come together to collectively see their work,” according to Welter.
The event’s keynote speaker is Class Ehlers, Chief Executive Officer of Family Promise, the national organization.
“This program is about the grassroots, about the people who, in their local community, give a couple of hours in one way or another to ensure that families and children get back on their feet,” Ehlers said.
Athens success story Colissa Lankford will also speak at the event.
The event runs from 11 am until 2 pm, with lunch starting at noon.
