Athens Sees Record Low Unemployment Numbers

Athens saw an all-time low employment rate last month. Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Athens recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2.1 percent in September. That was down seven-tenths a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was over five percent.

The number of unemployment claims also dropped 51% in September. That’s down more than 90% from last year the same time.

Additionally, the department reports unemployment dropped in every region in the state.
