Athens StoryCorps: Kai Hernandez-Gambill and Jill Gambill

Kai Hernandez-Gambill was born with a rare disease called Perthes disease, which prevented proper growth in his legs and hips. In this story, Kai talks to his mother Jill Gambill about overcoming Perthes and shocks his mom with a surprise confession. StoryCorps Athens stories were recorded locally at the StoryCorps mobile booth at the Athens-Clarke County Library in the fall of 2018. StoryCorps is part of a national initiative to record and preserve the stories of everyday people.
