Athens StoryCorps: Raymond and Ray Akridge

On Mother’s Day, it’s not just children who show appreciation to their mothers; husbands often show their appreciation for their wives and admire the balancing act of motherhood and life’s challenges.

In this conversation, Raymond Akridge, Sr. and his son Ray Akridge, Jr. pay homage to their wives and praise them for all of the different roles they play every day.

StoryCorps Athens stories were recorded locally at the StoryCorps mobile booth at the Athens-Clarke County Library in the fall of 2018. StoryCorps is part of a national initiative to record and preserve the stories of everyday people.
