AT&T Donates $25k to Assist Students Experiencing Foster Care, Homelessness

Embark Georgia

“Every child has the potential to achieve something great.”

That’s what Venessa Harrison, president of AT&T Georgia, had to say about the importance of encouraging youth who have experienced foster care or homelessness to pursue higher education.

AT&T contributed $25,000 to Embark Georgia to help increase college access to this demographic.

Embark Georgia is a statewide leadership network of higher education, k-12 and child welfare professionals. Its goal is to provide leadership and support for this group of students who are enrolled or interested in enrolling in Georgia’s postsecondary institutions.

Half of the contribution will train employees in the University System of Georgia and Technical College System of Georgia campuses to serve as points of contact for these students.

The other half will provide emergency assistance funding to these students to cover medical, transportation, housing or food needs.

“At AT&T, we know every child has the potential to achieve something great,” said Harrison in a UGA press release. “As we work to cultivate a future of opportunity and promise for all Georgians, we are especially proud to support Embark Georgia and the University of Georgia’s meaningful work to connect our youth—tomorrow’s leaders—to resources that can help them realize their academic dreams.”

The contribution is expected to reach about 120 students who have experienced foster care or homelessness.
