Bark & Wine 2018 Fundraiser for Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter

Area community members are invited to help save animals at The 5th Annual Bark & Wine at the Boutier Winery in Danielsville Saturday. It’s the signature fundraiser event for the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter. Board President Sherri Hines tells us what attendees can expect.

“Carrabba’s Italian Grill of Athens is going to be providing all of our heavy hors d’oeuvres for the event which are designed superficially to be paired with Mr. Boutier’s wine,” Hines said. “We have live music from the Kate Mirussey band, live auctions, silent auctions as well as a few raffle items as well. Tickets to Disney World, a signed Kirby Smart football, just tons of gift certificates and gift packages.”

Hines says all proceeds go directly the shelter to help care for the hundreds of unwanted and abandoned animals in the community.

MOAS takes in about 2,800 animals a year and tries to explore every option to save them.

“There’s a number of ways we do that. First of all, we provide a community food bank and other sorts of low income resources to try to keep people and their pets together so that they don’t come into the shelter in the first place.

“We actively try to market that animal, get that animal medical care, do whatever we need to do to get that animal as adoptable as possible, We’re working, taking them to offsite adoption event.”

Bark and Wine takes place Saturday at the Boutier Winery. For tickets, or to see the list of auction items, or donate, visit www.moaspets.com/barkandwine.
