Clarke County Board Of Education Approves Budget For Upcoming Year

The Clarke County Board of Education approved a $164 million-dollar budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The budget includes salary increases for custodial staff, pre-K teachers and paraprofessionals and does not include employee furlough or calendar reduction days. The district has cut spending in transportation and school administration, but it added a telehealth nurse and a part-time school psychologist to its expenditures.

State education funding is higher than the district prepared for — the state’s 2021 budget now cuts 10% from education, down from the original estimate of 14%. The district will receive an additional 2.2 million in state education funding than previously projected.
