The Clarke County School District has released the following statement in response to the death of a student who attended Cedar Shoals High School:
We have just been advised of a tragedy involving a member of our school. We are sad to announce that a senior passed away Friday evening after a brief illness.
The student’s classmates were informed of this loss by our teachers and school counselors. Our hope is that the counselors and social workers have provided an avenue through which the student’s classmates will be able to cope with the death.
In the coming days, we will make grief counselors available for both students and staff. We encourage anyone who may be struggling with this difficult time to speak with a counselor.
Our thoughts are with the student’s family and friends during this time.
