Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Today demonstrated another alarming spike in deaths due to Covid-19.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported 82 deaths and more than 4,800 new cases. This brings total cases to more than 160,000 and deaths to 3,442. 399 people have been hospitalized due to the virus.

As of the 23rd, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that 54% of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 87% of critical care beds are occupied, and 82% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. There remains a 57% availability for ventilators.
