COVID-19 Deaths Top 6-Thousand in Georgia

Deaths from COVID-19 have topped the 6-thousand mark in Georgia. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website, there have now been 6,070 deaths in the state, with 285,350 confirmed cases. More than 25-thousand people have been hospitalized as a result of the virus. Clarke County is reporting nearly 4-thousand cases, with over 14-hundred cases reported in the last two weeks. There are 35 deaths.

Elsewhere in the area, Barrow County is reporting just over 19-hundred cases with 41 deaths. In Oconee County, there are 632 cases with 21 deaths, Jackson County is reporting 1,665 cases and 27 deaths, Madison County eight deaths, Oglethorpe is reporting 291 cases and 11 deaths.

According to the Georgia Geospatial Information Office, or GIO nearly 11-thousand hospital beds are in use in Georgia, or 74% of capacity and 2,240 ICU beds are in use, 79.5% capacity.
