Curtis Compton/Atlanta Journal-Constitution via AP

Death rates of Covid-19 have dropped to a smaller, but not insignificant number Thursday.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported more than 4,000 new cases and 30 new deaths. Total cases are now more than 182,000 and total deaths are at 3,671. 339 people have been hospitalized due to the virus.

As of the 29th, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency reports that more than half of the state’s total ER beds are now in use, 87 % of critical care beds are occupied, and 82% of general inpatient beds are also occupied. It should be noted that bed occupancy is not solely due to Covid-19, but also a variety of afflictions and injuries. There remains a 57% availability for ventilators.

According to the state health department, Clarke County is reporting 1,591 confirmed cases. There are 16 deaths in Clarke County. Barrow County has 1030 cases and 32 deaths. Jackson County has 884 cases, 13 deaths, Madison County 305 cases with four deaths, Oconee County is reporting 368 cases and 15 deaths, while Oglethorpe has 177 cases and seven deaths.
