The COVID-19 Pandemic - Is there a Light at the End of the Tunnel?

drakecountyhealth.org

There's some promising news about the COVID-19 pandemic in Athens-Clarke County.

ACC officials say that the number of cases per 100,000 dropped dramatically over the past week - from nearly 75 cases per 100,000 residents down to 60 cases per 100,000.

Another good piece of news - the number of hospitalizations also decreased from 18 to 9 over the last week.

Not all of the news is positive, however. Three new deaths were reported by ACC, bringing the county's total number of COVID deaths to 178.

The county's vaccination rate continues to lag the state average. Some 45 percent of Clarke County residents are fully vaccinated.
