Covid Numbers Continue to Rise in Athens

Hospitals in the Athens Clarke County area are filling up.

In region E, where Athens’ hospitals are at the center, the inpatient beds have reached 94% capacity, ICU beds at 99% capacity, and 66% of ventilators are in use.

Of the total hospital patients, 208, or roughly 30%, have COVID-19. This is the highest number of COVID-19 patients in our hospitals since February.

As for new COVID-19 cases, the Georgia Department of Public Health reported 84 cases for Athens-Clarke County and 124 cases for Jackson County today. Neighboring Oconee County saw 30 cases and Barrow County saw 117 cases today.
