Crawford Man Accused of Pulling Knife on ACC Bus Driver, Armed Robbery

Madison County Sheriff's Office

A Crawford man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after authorities say he pulled a knife on an Athens-Clarke County Transit bus driver in a parking lot.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, before deputies arrived on the scene, 42-yeart old Edward Lee Wessinger also went to a nearby Apex convenience store and threatened the clerk with the knife.

After he was given money from the register, he fled the scene on foot, dropping the money in the process. After a brief search, officers from Madison, Athens-Clarke County and the Georgia State Patrol found Wessinger inside another convenience store in Clarke County.

He is charged with Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment and Armed Robbery. More charges could be added as the investigation continues.
