Duncan says no to re-election bid

Georgia's Lieutenant Governor is not running for re-election.

In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Geoff Duncan confirmed what a number of political insiders had suspected for several months, that he would not be a candidate for Lieutenant Governor in next year's election.

In recent months, Duncan has found himself out of step with many state and national Republicans, and has been a frequent critic of former President Donald Trump and unsubstantiated allegations of widespread voter fraud. Duncan told the AJC that he would serve the remainder of his term, but after that would focus his efforts and political capital on pushing to change the direction of the GOP from within.
