Family Promise of Athens to Hold Virtual La Table Fundraising Event

Family Promise of Athens

Family Promise of Athens is hosting its annual La Table fundraising event, Tuesday, February 23. As with many events impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s gathering will be virtual. Davin Welter is Executive Director of Family Promise.

"It is our single biggest fundraiser of the year. It's also important for us because it's an opportunity for us to gather together as a community. We work with 40 area congregations so it is rare for us to have an opportunity to all gather, and La Table provides that for us."

Tammy Gilland is a board member of the nonprofit.

"What makes Family Promise unique is that we are an organization that is addressing homelessness here in Athens-Clarke County. I think we are the only organization that keeps families together, so you're not having to worry about moms and kids being in one shelter and the dad in a separate facility. "

Family Promise uses area houses of worship to house families. The congregations provide meals, transportation, childcare, and other services.

"At 12:00 noon on February 23rd, everyone will be able to login to see this video."

Attendees can join online on February 23rd by visiting www.familypromiseathens.org.
