The suspect of a domestic dispute off Baxter Street shot and killed himself Thursday around 10:30 p.m., according to Athens-Clarke County police.
When police repsonded to the domestic dispute, the suspect began running away toward an open field in the 2000 block of Baxter Street. Once he stopped in the field, the suspect used a firearm he had in his possession to shoot himself.
He died at a local hospital. Police are still investigating the incident.
